Samsung Wide Selfie Camera Function

Screenshot_20160412-204150While I was playing around the camera functions of my phone (Samsung S7 Edge), I saw a Wide Selfie mode.

You just have to tilt your camera left & right to capture the sides.
I am really amazed at how innovative Samsung can be with their products.

Here is my sample of the Wide Selfie Mode:

See the difference?
Cool right? 🙂

Geiger Lookout Wayside Park

P.S. Excuse me for the nonchalant face.. It was a stolen shot and I am afraid of heights.. Haha..

From Lake Tahoe, we decided to go to Virginia City and then go to Reno, Nevada..
Through our journey of zigzag roads, we decided to stop by this wonderful place called Geiger Lookout Wayside Park..
It is a great place to pause and take a moment to appreciate the overlooking view of Nevada.

So happy we went there at a perfect timing– when the skies are ready to display their beautiful colors.. ❤

Just a warning, you need to climb a (not so) steep stairway and it is a bit scary for a person like me who has fear of heights..
Plus it was covered with snow so imagine how I felt! Haha..

However, the view afterwards is magnificent!

So if ever you’ll pass by Geiger Road, don’t miss this wonderful place..

For people with fear of heights, to be honest it was only a few steps to reach the top so please don’t be afraid to visit this place.. 🙂

Trivia
The Geiger Grade [is] a twisting mountain road built in 1862 to haul silver from the Comstock Lode. The road gets its name from Davison M. Geiger, a local physician who financed its construction. Daredevils with four-wheel-drive vehicles still take the old grade. But most drivers should stick to the newer Geiger Grade (built in 1936), Highway 341. Cutting through the same scenic area, it begins in the valley south of Reno off Highway 395 and winds its way through a rocky landscape dotted with junipers. At the 4.6-mile point there’s a turnout with spectacular views of the Sierra and a plaque paying tribute to Dr. Geiger. Down toward the valley, you’ll see the old, snaking, unpaved route. The new road curls over the mountains and south into historic Virginia City. It was once a rough town, but these days it’s a pretty nice place to stay.– AAA Via MagazinePhoto 10-2-16, 2 31 12 PM

Super Bowl 50 Experience!

As you may already know, I am from the Philippines + I am not into sports..
Our nation is more on a Basketball nation and honestly, I have never watched a football match in my entire life.
So actually, I never thought I will be interested in Super Bowl..

At first, I was just interested to go to the Super Bowl City.
Super Bowl 50 is a milestone here in US and I want to witness what happens.
So we decided to go to San Francisco and check out the Super Bowl City..

There were a lot of people.
Everyone was so excited to take photos and participate in the activities the area has to offer.
And yes, we queued for the big 50 sign photo op (but I will not post the pic coz I’m too fat-haha).

There were a few activities like playing some games and other photo ops but we didn’t have enough time to participate.
We wanted to buy souvenirs but then the shop was really packed so we just ate our lunch, took some more photos and went to the Painted Ladies (sorry if we didn’t stay that long in SBCity)..

But I still have a story to share:
While I was waiting for my turn (photo op), I was watching the presentation shown in the big screen.
Football clips, live feed, etc.
And then it captured me- I was really excited watching the players fight for that ball and getting that valuable touchdown!
I then said to myself, “I must watch the game on Sunday!”

Soooooooo..
Sunday came! The Big Match!
To feel the atmosphere, we bought some SB50 goodies and chips to snack on while watching..

Since I really do not know both teams, I chose Denver Broncos as my team just because I like color Orange..
I know that is too shallow but at least, my team won! 🙂
And then game started!

Photo 8-2-16, 12 01 05 AM

I didn’t understand the technicalities of the game and I didn’t expect that there will be a lot of stops here and there..
BUT! I enjoyed the game and I was excited every time there is a touchdown or when a player outruns other players..
I think it is good for starters, right?

SB50 Halftime Show. Coldplay, Beyonce & Bruno Mars. Excellent.
Plus the Believe in Love sign.

Overall, my Super Bowl 50 experience was fun and exciting!
Looking forward to more years of Super Bowl even if I am back in the Philippines-
all thanks to Internet & live streaming.. ❤

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park

Photo 3-2-16, 4 35 30 PMI was sleeping in the car on our way home from church when my cousin woke me up and informed me that we will go to the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
I have to admit, at first, I was not too interested.
I was thinking- “It is just a park with giant trees, what is so interesting?”
Don’t get me wrong, I love nature.
But I am more into water sceneries like oceans, beaches or lakes..
Trees? Not really a fan.

So we went to the park not looking forward to seeing something great— I was wrong.
I didn’t think I’ll be in awe because of these Redwood trees.
They are really GIANTS and some are even older than our Lord, Jesus.
If I may add more information about Redwood Trees, 2 of the 3 species of Redwood Trees are from California, USA while the other type is found in China (Wikipedia on Redwood Trees).

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is one of the Redwood parks in California.
There are a lot of things you can do in Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park.
Hiking, Fishing, River Crossing, ride a train at Roaring Camp Railroads, etc.
However, due to time constraint, we were only able to visit the Redwood Grove Loop Trail & the museum.
But I must say, visiting the trail was more than enough to appreciate the park.

Photo 3-2-16, 4 31 18 PMIn the entrance, a giant tree cross section will welcome you.
Can you believe that it came from a tree that grew more than 2,200 years ago?

Taking photos is a must!
But because the trees are really tall, my advise is for you to use the panorama function of your phone’s camera.
It will help you capture how big these trees are!

More Redwood Trees Photos:

The museum is a small one but you will definitely learn something there.

Although we didn’t ride the Roaring Camp Train, we managed to see the Roaring Camp.

It was a nice experience.
Again, another chance to marvel God’s creation.
If you like nature and if this post made you curious about Redwood trees, I suggest you visit a Redwood Park near you. 😊

Lake Tahoe

Beautiful Lake Tahoe..

Regretting why I only started blogging this year.
It would’ve been easier if I started blogging early because I have a lot of things to say, pictures to show and experiences to share about my past journeys.

I will still try to share my past tours one at a time but let me begin with a recent one.
I think it is best to start with one of the most breathtaking views I’ve ever seen in my life- LAKE TAHOE..

While structures like the Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Colosseum are nonetheless amazing as well, to see nature so beautiful as Lake Tahoe tops my list.
It is wonderful how the snow, mountains, trees and a lake merged together to form a magnificent landscape.
I am really in awe of God’s creation.

It was also my first time to experience snow.
Lived in countries with 2 seasons for the past 30 years and I am blessed to experience winter here in the United States.
I can’t help but be too excited to see snow in the morning- so I went outside wearing my pjs to touch and feel the snow.
It is surely cold especially when we went to Squaw Valley but every view is remarkable for me to think about the coldness.

My US trip is memorable because of what I experienced in Lake Tahoe.
I will definitely go back to this place again.

Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States. At a surface elevation of 6,225 ft, it is located along the border between California and Nevada, west of Carson City. Wikipedia
